Commission a Tapestry
With its distinctive Dovecot mark and weavers initials, every Dovecot tapestry is unique.
Dovecot creates contemporary hand woven tapestries, in collaboration with leading international artists, designers, curators, architects and specialist interior designers, for a range of private and public projects or commissions.
Tapestry commissions come about for many different reasons. A leading artist might have a project in mind and wish to work with Dovecot for a client. An architect may envision a site specific tapestry for a prestigious new build project. Or perhaps a specialist yacht designer wants to create a bespoke tapestry for a luxury yacht. Our portfolio details some of the many projects that Dovecot has delivered.
The vital first step in commissioning a tapestry is to meet with Dovecot’s specialist team of weavers, to discuss artwork, scale and brief. Following detailed discussion the art work is agreed, costs prepared and timescales specified. The approach to weaving and handling of colour is an essential element of a creative dialogue that evolves with client, artist and weaver all closely involved.
