• Dovecot on the Map Shop Night

In association with Herb Lester Associates, Dovecot Studios Shop invite craft buyers, weave and book enthusiasts to the launch night of Herb Lester’s new artist illustrated map and guide to the unusual of both Glasgow and Edinburgh. Herb Lester have produced over 43 maps and we are proud to announce that in their most recent Edinburgh commission they have put ‘Dovecot on the Map’. Come and celebrate with us, and take the chance to see what our fantastic Shop has to offer.

Herb Lester Associates are publishers of guides to the world’s great cities that explore specific themes and aspects many others ignore. The aim is to introduce the reader to new places and to re-evaluate familiar ones. These are guides to the usual and the unusual; so the solo traveller in Paris can find a different way to explore the Louvre free of maddening crowds, and also spend time at a small side street café or specialist bookshop. The guides are written and researched in-house and each one is designed and illustrated for Herb Lester by a different illustrator, particularly chosen for the subject.

It is hard not to be bewitched by this beautiful city with its picturesque castle, dramatic terrain, and the sea lapping at its edges. Our guide acknowledges these familiar sights and then moves on, plotting a path of 34 entries that takes in the unlikely alongside the essential: Korean food and a Wild West Town; fish and chips and a whisky shop; an island you can walk to and a trio of bookshops; clothing shops and, lest we forget, a handful of pubs for when the need strikes.

Shoppers spending over £25 on the night will receive a goodie bag with Dovecot and Herb Lester gifts and a 10% discount voucher for the Dovecot Shop valid until 31 August 2014.
