Since reopening for meeting and events in April 2021 Dovecot Studios has hosted almost 40 meetings and event of all sizes, working with a variety of organisations and individuals
In October, Dovecot Studios held its first large-scale corporate event since 2019. Start-Up Summit, run by FutureX since 2011, brought over 140 attendees to Dovecot in a one day event. The event made the best use of Dovecot’s venue, occupying the Gallery and Ladies Baths. We caught up with Startup Summit Co-Founder Zoi Kantanatou after the event to see how it went.
Can you tell us a little about Startup Summit?
Startup Summit invites specialists from globally celebrated brands to share their stories and insights with the ambitious founders of today and the business leaders of tomorrow. Speakers explore the fundamental aspects of running a business, including marketing, strategy, leadership, sales, investment and more. For the tenth year of Startup Summit in 2021, we also wanted to bring people together and celebrate all we have achieved to date and dream up what we will do from now on.
Why did you decide that Dovecot Studios was the venue you wanted to hire for the conference?
We looked at different venues in Edinburgh however Dovecot Studios was the best for what we needed. The space was beautiful and ideal for the number of people we were planning to have at the event. We really liked the art aspect of the venue as it worked well with our approach to entrepreneurship and creativity. Also, we could host everything we wanted; sessions, networking and exhibitors area.
How did the Dovecot team help you plan for the event?
Our team has great experience in putting events together. The team at Dovecot was extremely helpful in working with us to develop our plans and help us in finding solutions on how the event will come to life. They sent us all the information we needed and they were always available and responsive.
How was the running of the event itself?
On the day the event went really well and the team at Dovecot was very helpful and professional. They made us feel that everything was under control and they were available to support us as we were setting up to create a smooth experience for the attendees. Even when issues arose they were there to take care of them but made sure to keep us updated and informed.
What about your attendees. Where they happy?
The attendees were very complimentary about the venue and they loved their experience at Startup Summit. They really liked the art installation and how easy it was to navigate through everything.
What’s next for Startup Summit?
We are currently working on our events strategy for the future but we would definitely like to come back to Dovecot Studios. Both the venue and team were brilliant and easy to work with and we very much enjoyed organising the event with them.
