New displays exploring Scotlands Modernist architecture

This November, two new displays on Dovecot's Tapestry Studio Viewing Balcony explore the stunning examples of Scottish Modernist architecture. From sleek, modern interiors to statement public buildings, these free displays connect with Dovecot's current exhibition Mid-Century Modern: Art & Design from Conran to Quant.

Modernist Scotland: Inside and Out is a photographic display in collaboration with Historic Environment Scotland. From Wimpy Bar in Edinburgh to the modernist home of textile designer and painter Bernat Klein in the Scottish Borders, step back in time and admire the architecture and lifestyle of post-war Scotland.

In a contemporary twist, Pinboard: Postcards from Edinburgh, is an ongoing project by textile designer Laura Lees. Featuring intricately embroidered postcards of Edinburgh’s modernist architectural gems from the Royal Commonwealth Pool to the University of Edinburgh, this is a chance to see the city from a new perspective and to marvel at these unique embroidered vignettes.
