Dovecot Studios summer celebration of weaving and wool
Dovecot Studios have been the leading pioneers in tapestry and rug making for over a 100 years. This exhibition showcases Dovecot’s contemporary hand-tufted rugs which are in turn graphic and vibrant, colourful and highly original. These works – all of which are for sale – are considered to be as much works of art, as rugs and wall hangings. They represent a broad range of artistic concerns, styles and ideas and highlight Dovecot’s rare expert skill for colour blending and design, and working with contemporary artists. Artist Rugs: Dovecot’s Contemporary Rug Collection features work from artists as diverse as John Byrne, William Crozier, Alan Davie, Nick Evans, Ruth Ewan, and Alasdair Gray alongside those of Dovecot’s own artist weavers and rug tufters.
