Step into Modernist Scotland and admire the balance of form and function in this photographic selection of mid-century buildings from Historic Environment Scotland’s National Record.

A building boom took place across post-war Scotland, with the design and construction of new schools, universities, civic centres, and hospitals. Explore how Scottish architects responded to ideas born in mainland Europe’s International and Bauhaus movements, and how these were applied to stunning examples of Modernism in Scotland. From domestic interiors to statement public buildings, stories of design and lifestyle from the mid-century era are brought back to life through classic images from the archive.

Exhibition supported by The Dovecot Foundation in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland
