Dovecot presents Ofili tapestry at Clothworkers' Hall for London Craft Week 2018
15 January 2018
As part of London Craft Week, Dovecot Tapestry Studio will present the Chris Ofili The Caged Bird’s Song tapestry at The Clothworkers’ Hall in a series of workshops and a talk on Friday 11 May.
The tapestry was the centrepiece to a major exhibition at The National Gallery in 2017, titled Weaving Magic and now hangs in the impressive surroundings of the Clothworkers’ Livery Hall. London Craft Week attendees can hear first-hand how Dovecot Tapestry Studio approached weaving a textile masterpiece to Chris Ofili’s design in a talk at 1pm.
For deeper insight, participants will have an opportunity to discover the creative process of weaving a tapestry, as Dovecot’s Master Weavers describe the process and skills required to translate Chris Ofili’s watercolour pigment into woven wool in a series of workshops beginning at 10am and continuing throughout the day.
