Dovecot reopens from 15 July

We are delighted to welcome visitors to Dovecot from 15 July. Following a period of temporary closure, the Dovecot team have been hard at work to ensure the safety and comfort of both visitors and staff as we prepare to open our doors.

A number of new measures have been put in place to provide our visitors with the best and safest experience possible, including increased cleaning, protective screens, encouragement of physical distancing, and time-slots for exhibition tickets.

A highlight of reopening is a brand new exhibition, Mid-Century Modern: Art & Design from Conran to Quant. Exploring the lifestyle revolution of post-war Britain, this is a chance to immerse yourself in the fashion, art, design, and textiles of another era. Tickets are available for July and August with timed slots for visitors to choose from.

From 15 to 31 July our exhibition and the Dovecot Shop will be open from Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. From August our opening times will return to Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. the Tapestry Studio Viewing Balcony is open 18 and 25 July from 10am to 5pm and from August will be open from 12-3pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 5pm on Saturdays.

What measures will you have in place to meet government guidance for visitors?

Risk assessments: Risk assessments have been carried out for both staff and visitor operations. These are regularly reviewed and take into account the latest guidance from the Scottish Government.

Timed exhibition tickets: We have implemented a booking system for our exhibition tickets with pre-booked slots to limit the number of visitors to the exhibition.

Physical-distancing markers: The architecture of the Dovecot building lends itself to physical distancing and we have put markers in public spaces to encourage staff and visitors to allow 2m distance at all times.

One-way route: A one-way system has been implemented in our exhibition Mid-Century Modern: Art & Design from Conran to Quant as well as on our Tapestry Studio Viewing Balcony.

Protective screens: Perspex screens have been implemented at our front desk to allow for safe transactions between staff and visitors.
Increased cleaning We have increased our cleaning regime across the building with increased frequency to sensitive areas (handrails, handles, and doors) and our toilet facilities.

Hand sanitiser: There are hand sanitising stations available as you enter and leave the building.

Do I need to book a ticket to access the building?

An exhibition ticket is required for Mid-Century Modern: Art & Design from Conran to Quant. We request that you book this in advance online and select a time-slot. You do not need to book a ticket to enter the building.

Do I need to wear a face covering?
