Dovecot is pleased to announce The Scottish Endarkenment Events Programme:
Conference: Endarkenment – Stories of Unreason in Art and Culture from 1945 to the Present in Scotland and the UK
Edinburgh College of Art and Dovecot Gallery are hosting a one-day conference on Friday 17 June at Dovecot in association with the exhibition The Scottish Endarkenment which is currently showing at Dovecot Gallery.
Join the curator of The Scottish Endarkenment for a tour around the exhibition on various dates in June, July & August.
In tandem with The Scottish Endarkenment there will be a programme of related films screened on selected Mondays at Edinburgh’s Filmhouse.

The Scottish Endarkenment exhibition will headline as part of the Edinburgh Art Festival which runs from 28 July to 28 August 2016.
Shona Macnaughton Performance The Universal Schoolgirl
Macnaughton is currently exhibiting as part of The Scottish Endarkenment and this performance takes inspiration from the Muriel Spark’s 1961 novel and later film adaptation The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. This performance incorporates images sourced from the internet tagged as #schoolgirl and investigates our sometimes uncomfortable relationship with this social archetype.
Edinburgh Art Festival Art Late
As part of Edinburgh Art Festival visit Dovecot for a short tour of The Scottish Endarkenment by one of the curators and a private view of Dazzle Jewellery.
Endarkenment Torch Lit Tour
A unique opportunity to explore The Scottish Endarkenment in real darkness. Guided by Dovecot Exhibitions Curator Kate Grenyer, this torch lit tour will be an atmospheric and intimate, up close encounter with the dark side of Scottish Art.
