Join Art critic of The Independent, Mark Hudson and curator Siobhan McLaughlin in conversation for a fresh perspective on Alan Davie. One of the most significant Scottish artists of the 20th Century, Davie's work is held in major art collections across the globe. Despite this, his work remains difficult to categorise.
This engaging, visual event will take place in the exhibition space, seated among a rich survey of works from each decade of Davie's career. Mark Hudson, author of new book Alan Davie in Hertford, discusses his personal experience with Davie and argues that his work is more relevant today than it has ever been. There will also be a screening of the film Hudson made with Davie, An Excess of Energy, which features renowned Scottish artist Peter Doig.
