• Scottish Landscapes: A New Generation - In Conversation with Siobhan McLaughlin

This summer the City Art Centre and Dovecot Studios are both staging exhibitions on the theme of landscape. While Shifting Vistas: 250 Years of Scottish Landscape (City Art Centre) surveys the topic from a historical perspective, Scottish Landscapes: A New Generation (Dovecot Studios) explores the work of recent art school graduates.

For this special event, freelance curator and artist Siobhan McLaughlin will talk about curating Scottish Landscapes: A New Generation, in conversation with City Art Centre curator Helen Scott. Together they will discuss contemporary approaches and dynamic responses to this ever-evolving subject.

Siobhan McLaughlin is an artist and freelance curator based in Glasgow. Since graduating from MA Fine Art at Edinburgh University in 2019, she has been awarded the inaugural SSA Wilhelmina Barns-Graham Award, a film commission from the Tate's British Art Network and a Royal Scottish Academy Residencies for Scotland Award. Alongside exhibiting regularly, McLaughlin’s curatorial practice focuses on creating opportunities for sharing and connection and opening up private, inaccessible spaces to the public. In 2022 she curated a major private collections exhibition, Alan Davie: Beginning of a Far-off World, at Dovecot Studios, Edinburgh, and is currently working with Dovecot to provide a platform for emerging artists at the start of their careers in the exhibition Scottish Landscapes: A New Generation.
