Shona Macnaughton Performance The Universal Schoolgirl

Taking inspiration from Muriel Spark’s 1961 novel and later film adaption The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie – Macnaughton’s performance, The Universal Schoolgirl, incorporates images sourced from the internet tagged as #schoolgirl and investigates our sometimes uncomfortable relationship with this social archetype.

Shona Macnaughton is currently exhibiting at Dovecot Studios as part of The Scottish Endarkenment: Art and Unreason | 1945 to the Present
