Tapestry Weaving 3-Day Workshop | Weaving Water

Weaving water is often seen as a challenge in tapestry. Yet the techniques to achieve the required effect are rich and varied. This 3-day workshop focuses on the theme of water and is aimed at those who have a basic knowledge of tapestry weaving and who want to explore different approaches. The workshop is taught by the independent professional weaver Fiona Hutchison and features a masterclass with one of Dovecot’s weaving team.

Founded over 100 years ago, Dovecot has created a number of celebrated tapestries featuring water, most recently The Caged Bird’s Song tapestry in collaboration with The Clothworkers and the artist Chris Ofili. Timed to coincide with Dovecot’s 10th anniversary in the Infirmary Street Baths and the Baths to Bobbins display, this new workshop is an opportunity to experiment and to gain confidence with different techniques.

This workshop is for those who have a basic knowledge of tapestry weaving as well as a follow-on class from the Dovecot Tapestry Weaving Experience Day. You should expect to complete a small tapestry by the end of this three-day workshop.

Price: £360 includes equipment*

*The fee includes the tapestry yarn and use of equipment during the workshop. Should participants wish to continue their work at home weaving kits and accessories are available for sale on the day. All attendees will receive a 10% discount in Dovecot Shop.
