This Saturday workshop is a rare opportunity to create your own tapestry on the Dovecot weaving floor. Aimed at beginners, and taught by an independent weaver, the workshop introduces the materials and skills involved in creating tapestry. Includes tea, coffee and a glass of Dovecot fizz.
Price: includes equipment* and glass of fizz
*The fee includes the tapestry yarn and use of equipment during the workshop. Should participants wish to acquire a tapestry frame, yarn and bobbins to continue their work at home these are available for sale on the day.

10.15-10.30am Introduction to Dovecot Tapestry Studio
10.30am-1.00pm Weaving techniques – materials; winding the bobbin; half hitches; how to start and finish the weft; open and closed sheds; how to control weft tension; how to keep straight edges
1.00-1.30pm Break and time to explore the Dovecot exhibition and displays
1.30-3.30pm Weaving techniques – changing colour; dealing with slits; how different materials can be used or combined to achieve a variety of surface qualities.
3.30-4pm Finishing off the tapestry
4-4.30pm Cutting off ceremony with a glass of fizz on Viewing Balcony
