• Shane Waltener

Trained as a sculptor, Shane Waltener’s (b. 1966) work draws inspiration from craft traditions and processes. The objects and installations he creates often reference craft work, from needle and sugarcraft to weaving and basketry. Often opening the creative process to the public, Waltener is keen to facilitate a collaborative process, shifting the focus from the symbolic meaning of objects and materials to the activity to which they relate. He is currently based in London, where he is also a lecturer at the University of Arts.

In 2010, Waltener, with the assistance of Nick Duxbury, created a site-specific installation titled Stairwell Weave-In for Dovecot, which is situated on the main staircase of the building.
