Dovecot weavers created a selection of tapestries which are inspired by patterns across different cultures and stories, reaching back thousands of years.
Organised by Master Weaver and Studio Manager Naomi Robertson, she explains the inspiration for the project:
‘Growing up, my parents had a wall covered in ceramic tiles they had collected from all over the world on their travels – a mosaic of clashing pattern and culture. Drawing on this, I wanted to allow each weaver in the team to explore a pattern from across the globe that they connect with. Dovecot Studios is famous for bringing a collaborative approach to tapestry, and this project has provided the team with a rare opportunity for self-expression’.
The result is a montage of beautiful, inventive and expressive designs which are available for sale as part of a fundraising initiative.
Each tapestry is for sale for £2,000 inclusive of VAT. All funds raised from these tapestries will support the work of Dovecot Studios and the tapestry apprenticeship scheme.
