You Can Radiate Over Here is a rug made by Dovecot in collaboration with artist Victoria Morton, commissioned by The Perse School, Cambridge, for its newly built Peter Hall Performing Arts Centre, designed by architect Haworth Tompkins. A Glasgow-based abstract painter, Morton often crosses disciplines with her work, but had never explored textile before.
The main challenge for Dovecot tufter Kristi Vana, was to establish a sense of Morton's marks and to encapsulate the complexity of colour blending in wool as is present in the artist's paintings. These design considerations were explored through a series of gun-tufted samples, which both the Dovecot team and Morton reviewed together, before approaching the final textile piece. You Can Radiate Over Here is complex yet rhythmic in colour and composition.
