David Cochrane: Waterbaby

In celebration of the move into the renovated Infirmary Street Baths in 2008, and the approaching centenary of the tapestry studio in 2012, each Dovecot weaver designed a work which reflected this historic building and their own feelings for their new space and the future.

Perhaps nodding to his own masterpiece Water Surface, an almost photographic interpretation of the light and movement of water, Master Weaver David Cochrane created Waterbaby. This new tapestry is another virtuoso depiction of water in tapestry, with the hopeful baby heading out to prosper in its new surroundings.
