Holly and Berries is part of Dovecot Patterns, a selection of tapestries created by Dovecot's weavers which evokes a cultural conversation through pattern that reaches back thousands of years. Weaver Rudi Richardson studied the repeated pattern of stylised holly and berries on a 17th century embroidered linen hanging or covering. The all-over pattern, which adorns the original linen work, was typical of English embroidery design of the period. Focusing on a detail of the pattern, this tapestry is an interesting interpretation of another craft form.
This tapestry is available for sale at £2,000 inclusive of VAT. All funds raised from sales support the work of Dovecot Studios and the tapestry apprenticeship scheme.
