Runic Figures is part of Dovecot Patterns, a selection of tapestries created by Dovecot's weavers which evokes a cultural conversation through pattern that reaches back thousands of years. Master Weaver David Cochrane studied the runic alphabet, a means of writing of Germanic and Scandinavian origin, to create this tapestry. The message in the work translates to ‘a walk in the woods’, while the colouring echoes stone carvings made by the Vikings to create runestones.
This tapestry is available for sale at £2,000 incl. VAT. All funds raised from sales will support the work of Dovecot Studios and the tapestry apprenticeship scheme.
