• A History of Colour in 25 Patterns
    Thames & Hudson

Heritage patterns and colours are in vogue: a trend fuelled by interior decorators reworking traditional designs in palettes that reference both the present and the past.

A new book, Spectrum: Heritage Patterns and Colours by Ros Byam Shaw, is set to inform this trend with analysis of the CMYK references in over 100 historical wallpapers and textiles from the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Join Celia Joicey and Kate Grenyer of Dovecot Studios to explore how and why some patterns fall in and out of fashion, as well as why certain colours have become emblematic of their era. The talk includes reference to Liberty prints as well as a range of wallpapers and fabrics from the 15th century to the present day.

This morning talk coincides with the publication of the book, published by Thames & Hudson. Copies of the book will be available to buy at the talk for the special price of £20 (RRP £24.95).

Ticket includes entry to exhibition LIBERTY Art Fabrics & Fashion on the day of the event. Entry on day of event only, ticket is non-transferable.
