• Bayeux Tapestry Talks: When is a Tapestry not a Tapestry?

The Bayeux Tapestry is not in fact a tapestry at all. It is an embroidery. With the announcement that the Bayeux Tapestry is coming to the UK, Dovecot has tasked its team of apprentices and volunteers to create details of the famous tapestry. One detail is woven and one is embroidered and both will be exhibited as part of Bayeux on the Balcony this Autumn. Hear from the Dovecot team to discover the differences between tapestry weaving and embroidery and their insights on how skills are transferred from generation to generation.

Tickets £15 (includes entry to Costume Couture: Sixty Years of Cosprop)
