Join us for the opening day of David Remfry: In Residence, featuring a special conversation between the artist and Dovecot Master Weaver Naomi Robertson. Remfry will discuss his creative process, share insights into his favourite works, and speak about their recent tapestry collaboration. Following the conversation, Remfry and Robertson will be available on the balcony to chat informally about the works on display.
Known for his large-scale watercolours of dancers and his drawings of neighbours and friends from his 20 years living in New York, Royal Academician David Remfry is adept at recording both people and place. He has long been fascinated by textiles, modelling colour and pattern in his paintings through furnishings, and the drapery and folds of fabric on the body. Responding to this sensibility for texture and materials, Dovecot has commissioned a new tapestry, Chandelirium, which will be unveiled as part of the exhibition.
