• POSTPONED Introduction to The Art of Macramé

This event has been postponed. If you purchased a ticket to this event our team will be in touch with you via email. We will post updates on our website and social media channels.

Learn the art of macramé at this introductory class taught by award winning artist, Lucy Wayman.

Inspired by the modernist design explored in our exhibition Mid-Century Modern: Art and Design from Conran to Quant , this taster workshop introduces you to a range of knots used in macramé in order to make your own plant hanger, using 100% cotton rope and a selection of coloured twines.

All materials are provided, but feel free to bring items such as beads, gems, hoops and drift wood to incorporate into your design.

About Lucy Wayman
Lucy Wayman’s practice makes use of craft techniques, such as weaving, knotting and macramé but at a scale and with a dynamism that surprises. She was selected for the Royal Scottish Academy New Contemporaries, was awarded the Chalmers Award, and was commissioned by Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop to create a public sculpture as part of Edinburgh Art Festival 2019.

Tickets £50.00 (+booking fee). All materials included, ticket includes entry to Mid-Century Modern: Art & Design From Conran to Quant on the day of the event.

Every ticket sold supports the work of The Dovecot Foundation to advance visual art, craft and design in all its forms.
