Sudō Reiko joins us live from Japan for a preview of the exhibition and a talk by Dovecot curator, Kate Grenyer, to launch MAKING NUNO: Japanese Textile Innovation from Sudō Reiko.
This autumn Dovecot presents the work of internationally acclaimed Japanese textile designer Sudō Reiko with an innovative new exhibition featuring five large-scale installations combining NUNO textiles and art projections by leading technological designers Rhizomatiks from Tokyo.
Trained as a textile and industrial designer Sudō Reiko’s fabric designs combine Japanese craft traditions with new engineering techniques. She works with unusual combinations of diverse materials such as silk, hand-made washi (Japanese paper), nylon tape and thermoplastic, and technologies derived from Japanese hand craft traditions such as caustic burning, weaving and dying.
Sudō Reiko will join this event live from Japan, along with special guests from Japan House London and the Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile (CHAT), Hong Kong to launch the exhibition.
Tickets: £12.00
