• SOLD OUT Marion and David Donaldson in conversation with Jade Halbert
    LIBERTY Art Fabrics & Fashion
    Marion Donaldson

The Marion Donaldson label is a major success story in the history of the Glasgow rag trade. Beginning at the height of the swinging sixties with just £50 and a case of Liberty fabric, Marion and her husband David began to produce their own fashion designs in their Glasgow flat and then sold these on to local boutiques. There was nothing else like the Marion Donaldson label which was so in demand that the company grew fast; at the start of the 1970s it already had a turnover of over £1m and they were Liberty’s biggest customer for clothing fabrics.

Now highly collectible as vintage fashion and with a feature display in our Liberty exhibition, Marion and David talk with Fashion and Textile Historian Dr Jade Halbert about their designs and story.

Tickets cost £9.00 and includes entry to LIBERTY Art Fabrics & Fashion on the day of the event. Entry on day of event only, ticket is non-transferrable.

*Bring your own Marion Donaldson vintage piece and get a complementary ticket for a friend to attend or for your own return visit to the Liberty Exhibition
