• Mark Hearld: At Home in Scotland
    A State of Nature

Mark Hearld is a painter and printmaker with a passion for tapestry. This summer he will spend time in Scotland working alongside Dovecot Studios’ Master Weavers as he prepares to create a tapestry cartoon for his exhibition at The Scottish Gallery in 2025. Visitors will have an opportunity to witness research in action from the Tapestry Studio Viewing Balcony as the weavers and Hearld collaborate on ideas for new work.

Join Mark Hearld in Conversation in the Studios after hours on Wednesday 17 July

Hearld is a graduate of both Glasgow College of Art and the Royal College of Art. He takes inspiration from the flora and fauna of the British countryside, and has produced a range of etchings, screen prints and linocuts that have become widely known through book covers, wallpaper and fashion. His incredible creativity and enthusiasm for the printed image has led to commissions from Faber & Faber, Tate and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park among others.

Available to view for limited hours – Monday to Friday, 12:00 – 15:00 and Saturday, 10:00 – 17:00
