This exhibition was due to run until 9 January 2021, however, following recent government guidance the exhibition will close at 5pm on 23 December
Mid-Century Modern: Art & Design from Conran to Quant presents the design, fashion, and art of a group of radical young architects, designers, photographers, and artists who redefined the concept of youth and the established order of post-war Britain.
At the forefront of this group of young revolutionaries were Mary Quant, Terence Conran, and Bernard and Laura Ashley, who were influenced by the teachings of Eduardo Paolozzi and the Independent Group. Explore the furniture, fashion, textiles, lighting, ceramics, and printed material that defined Mid-Century Modern in an exhibition that delves into not only the style, but the socioeconomic importance of this transformative period.
