Tapestry can spark thoughts of medieval castles and stately homes, but in the 20th century, radical weavers, artists and visionaries broke the mould to move the medium forward.
Dovecot Exhibitions Curator Kate Grenyer tells the story of modern tapestry at Dovecot and the impact of one weaver in particular, Archie Brennan (1931-2019). Hear about collaborations, creative differences, and the reinvention of tapestry with modern artists including Robert Motherwell, David Hockney, Eduardo Paolozzi, and more; as well as untold stories of where these tapestries live today.
