Laura Ashley: Textile from the Kitchen Table

This online talk is part of Mid-Century Musings, a series of ten-minute online talks that offer a glimpse into Mid-Century Modern style and history.

From 1953 until the early 1960s, Bernard and Laura Ashley were initially, if exceptionally so, textile designers and printers. From their kitchen table in Pimlico, London, in the mid-1950s, to industrial units in Wales in the early 1960s, they specialised in the production of what may be termed ‘art’ textiles.

Celebrated in our current exhibition Mid-Century Modern: Art & Design from Conran to Quant, learn more on the early career of Laura Ashley in this free online talk with Dovecot Exhibtions Curator Kate Grenyer.
