What was it like to make the Bayeux Tapestry? Professor Jane Geddes explores the great embroidery not as an epic of Norman conquest, but as witness to the lived experience of stitching the details of everyday life. Fresh evidence comes from the 19th century replica at Reading Museum and the new Norwich Tapestry.
Professor Jane Geddes is a British art historian and academic, specialising in Scottish architecture, British Medieval manuscripts, Pictish sculpture and Medieval decorative ironwork. She is Emeritus Professor of Art History, University of Aberdeen.
