Tapestries & Rugs
Since 1912, when Dovecot Studios was established at Corstorphine in Edinburgh, over 800 textile works have been created by Dovecot Tapestry Studio's weavers. Many of the projects to create private or public commissions have been ambitious. At the time of hanging in the British Library, the R B Kitaj tapestry was the largest in the UK, and the Victoria Crowe work The Large Tree Group Tapestry incorporated only blends of undyed yarn sourced from suppliers all over Britain. Rugs created with artists including Than Clark and Linder have had unconventional end use in broader performance and installation works for exhibitions.
